EQUIPMENT & MACHINES

Set up your equipment

Yes, it's tedious, but it's ten minutes of setup that pays off in every workout afterward.

About 10 minutes

Pick what you own

The catalog covers about 140 equipment types, from barbells to bands. Go through Settings, Equipment and add what you have at home or what your gym has, tapping each type to add it. Your AI plans around what’s actually available to you, so this list is what keeps suggested workouts realistic instead of aspirational.

  1. Open Settings, Equipment.
The You section of Parameter's Settings screen, listing Profile, Equipment, and Machine control, each row opening its own screen.
Equipment and Machine control both live in the You section of Settings.
  1. Tap + in the top right. The Equipment Type sheet opens on twelve collapsible categories, each showing how many types it holds: Cardio Machines, Free Weights, Strength Machines, Racks & Benches, Bodyweight & Gymnastics, Bands & Small Equipment, Yoga & Pilates, Recovery & Therapy, Balance & Core, Wearable Weights, Conditioning, and Outdoor & Facilities.
  2. Tap a category to expand it, or type into Search equipment if you already know what you are looking for.
  3. Tap a piece of equipment to add it. Add All beside a category adds everything in it at once, which is the fast way through a commercial gym where you genuinely do have the whole rack.

The type picker. Counts per category, search, and Add All for a whole group.
  1. Leave off anything you don’t have, even if you sometimes use it as a guest somewhere else. You can always add it later.

Inventory your plates and dumbbells

List the plates on your rack and the dumbbells on your stand. This is what feeds the plate calculator’s per-side math and keeps suggested loads buildable rather than landing on a number you can’t actually load.

  1. Add Weight Plates, or Bumper Plates, from Settings, Equipment. Under “Plates You Own”, enter each plate size and how many pairs. Plates live on their own entry and are shared by every bar you own, so a bar itself only records its own bar weight.
The Plates You Own (As Pairs) section of a Weight Plates entry in Parameter, with a unit picker set to lb and rows for 45, 25, and 10 pound plates, each showing a pair count and a stepper.

A Barbell entry in Parameter, showing Equipment Type set to Barbell and a Bar section whose only field is a bar weight of 45 beside an lb and kg selector.
A bar entry, by contrast, records only its own bar weight.
  1. For dumbbells, add Dumbbells - Fixed and list each pair you own, or Dumbbells - Adjustable and enter your set’s weight range.
  2. Save. The plate calculator now rounds any suggested load to something you can build.

Set click increments

Cardio machines adjust in steps such as 0.1 mph, 0.5 percent incline, one resistance level. Record each machine’s increments and the Adjust steppers snap to them instead of asking for speeds or inclines that don’t exist on your unit.

  1. Open the entry for a paired or manually added machine.
  2. Enter its speed increment, incline increment, and resistance or power increment, whichever apply.
  3. Repeat for each machine you use regularly.
The Limits (Optional) section of a Treadmill entry in Parameter, showing a Speed row with minimum and maximum fields, a unit of mph, and Adjusts in steps of 0.1, and below it an Incline row with plus and minus sign controls before each field, a unit of percent, and Adjusts in steps of 1.
Increments live under Limits (Optional), on the "Adjusts in steps of" line for each metric. Incline carries a sign control on each field, because a treadmill can decline.

Wearable weights

Vests and ankle weights get entries too, so weighted walks and calisthenics log the real load.

  1. From Settings, Equipment, add each item you own from the Wearable Weights group: weighted vest, adjustable vest, ankle weights, wrist weights, dip belt, or ruck pack. The adjustable vest takes a weight range, the rest take the weights you own.
  2. Reference it when logging or when your AI plans a weighted carry or weighted calisthenics session.

If you’ve paired an FTMS machine (see the machine control guide), link it to its catalog entry. Its telemetry, increments, and control settings then travel together instead of living in two separate places.

  1. Open the paired machine under Settings, Machine control.
  2. Tap Use limits from and pick the matching Equipment entry.
  3. From then on the machine combines its own reported limits with that entry’s, so a setpoint always lands inside both.
